Global Tax Network

The Global Tax Network (GTN) is a collaboration between independent tax practitioners based in Europe and North America. We are able to offer our clients access to professional assistance from our network partners and cooperate on cross-border issues. All members of our network have many years of experience with international tax from in house corporate tax teams and/or as a professional advisor. Some of us are lawyers and some are accountants - together we can cover all aspects of global corporate tax management.

James Border

The Law Office of James R. Border, P.A. advises global businesses across multiple industries on a wide range of domestic and international tax matters. Jim has over 40 years of experience in a wide range of matters on all continents including tax planning, compliance, dispute resolution and legislation.

As an attorney, Jim is admitted to practice before the courts of Florida and the District of Columbia as well as the United States Tax Court, United States District Court, and the Courts of Appeal for the 11th and District of Columbia Circuits and he is a certified public accountant licensed in Florida.

During his career, Jim has, among other positions, been the chief tax officer and senior tax counsel for a Fortune 500 and FTSE 100 company and consulted clients as an international specialist with two of the Big Four accounting firms.

Currently, Jim is a member of the committees on Foreign Activities of U.S. Taxpayers and U.S. Activities of Foreigners and Tax Treaties within the Tax Section of the American Bar Association and vice-chair of the International Transportation Committee within its Section of International Law.

Jon Fursdon

Prometheus Tax is a UK based tax consultancy, specialising in giving UK and International tax advice to clients.  It was founded by Jon Fursdon in 2018.

Jon is a chartered accountant and also a chartered tax adviser. Jon has 35 years of experience in the tax profession included periods as a tax partner at large accountancy firms, such as Deloitte and Grant Thornton, and as an independent tax consultant.

During his career, Jon has specialised in particular in shipping, telecommunications, property, technology companies, publishing and business media but has experience in many other industries. He was a founder member of the Tonnage Tax Practitioners’ Committee that advised the UK Government on the UK’s introduction of tonnage tax in 2000. Jon writes the tonnage tax commentary for the CCH British Tax Reporter.

Jon has also written extensively for Croner on tax planning and corporate tax and is a member of the Corporation Tax technical committee of the Chartered Institute of Taxation. Prometheus Tax Ltd is regulated by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

The firm advises on tax-efficient planning in areas including:

Pieter van der Straaten

Pieter has honed his world-class tax expertise over more 20 years as an in-house tax specialist for multinational companies in the Netherlands, Russia, France and the United States in Oilfield Services, Footwear and Apparel and Reinsurance Brokerage.

 

With pragmatism and transparency, Pieter helps tax departments avoid surprises and fulfil compliance obligations without creating an excessive paper burden or paying unnecessary taxes. His calm expertise helps smooth the transition during times of change, and his efficient leadership style guides teams who need the expertise, but are unable to add to their headcount.

Marc Zaal

Marc is a proven Senior Tax Executive (20+ years) with deep, global experience across a variety of industries such as Steel Production, Durable Consumer Goods, Electronics, Telecommunications, and tax advisory services for corporate clients (PwC). He offers tax solutions for interim, medium and long-term periods, fulfilling vacant roles quickly, offering supporting expertise during periods of change or additional activity, and supporting organizations with permanent headcount restrictions. My management experience includes leading groups of up to 10 consultants, 13 direct reports, and 60 FTEs across various countries and industries.

 

Marc has served as the EMEA(I) Head of Tax for 4 large multinational corporations from HQ locations in 4 different countries. He is strong at transforming complex issues into practical solutions based on sound knowledge of direct and indirect tax, accounting, transfer pricing, treasury, M&A and business principles. His list of accomplishments includes leading significant structuring projects, optimization of indirect taxes, completion of various large M&A transactions and large tax accounting projects, management of outsourcing and insourcing activities and establishing novel and efficient processes, structures, and departments within finance and tax.

 

During his career Marc acted as member of the Supervisory Board of Bauknecht AG in Germany, and as board member for various companies in Italy, Luxembourg, Switzerland, and the Netherlands where he, amongst others, implemented proper corporate governance processes

Hendrik Bogers

Hendrik Bogers, Your international Business Tax Partner

 

Hendrik is a business person with a tax specialism, an international tax professional with more than 25 years of in house experience gained working for large and mid sized multinationals operating different business models in a variety of sectors.

Experienced in leading/developing/(re-)building teams, project managing multi jurisdictional projects, effectively partnering with the business, interacting with the Board/Internal Audit Committee and Executive Committee, external auditors and tax authorities in a number of jurisdictions. Very much used to working in a virtual context.
